HHS CHOIR PERFORMS IN BRANSON
The Houston High School choirs performed twice at Branson shows on Oct. 2.
The group opened at the King’s Castle Theater and the Branson Belle. After singing, choir students watched “Broadway Spectacular” at the theater and “Celebrate” aboard the boat.
“The students got a taste of the routine and demands of professional groups that have to perform the same show more than once a day,” said Houston choir director Beth Williamson. “It exposed them to a variety of people and had a lot of problem solving opportunities.”
Williamson said her students performed for people of all ages and from various places.
“We received rave reviews from spectators and workers throughout the day,” she said. “People were constantly commenting about not how talented our students were but how well behaved and respectful they were. It was a great day for Houston, and we had a lot of fun.”
HHS CHOIR ANNOUNCES FUNDRAISER
The Houston choir’s annual spaghetti and karaoke fundraiser is 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the high school cafeteria. Tickets are $5 and include a meal of spaghetti, salad, bread sticks and dessert.
“There will also be a middle school parent night and high school volleyball that evening so come, eat and then enjoy the other activities the school is offering,” choir director Beth Williamson said. “Proceeds from the spaghetti dinner will go to support the needs of the choir department and help support all choir students attend events like the Branson and Washington D.C. performances.”
