The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
• A deputy was dispatched to Clear Springs Church on Bradford Road at Willow Springs at about 5:55 p.m. Oct. 14 regarding a report of an assault.
The officer made contact with a 49-year-old man there who stated he had been working at the church when his 33-year-old former wife showed up and starting hitting him. The man said she left, but a short time later there was a knock on the door, and when he answered, his former wife’s 38-year-old boyfriend hit him in the face and slammed his head into the door frame, causing a large cut from the middle of his forehead into his hair.
The deputy was unable to locate the two suspects. Investigation continues.
• An anonymous caller reported Oct. 12 that someone had cut limbs from trees and they were lying in the roadway on Mineral Drive at Houston. When an investigating officer arrived, the limbs had been removed from the roadway.
• On Oct. 12, an officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections probation and parole department called to request that a man be taken into custody on a probation and parole warrant.
A deputy located the man – Kenneth L. Belcher, 30, of Raymondville – at an Orchard Street residence in Raymondville. He was taken into custody and transported to jail.
• A deputy on Oct. 3 investigated a report of a burglary on Pea Ridge Road at Cabool.
A 60-year-old man told the officer a riding mower valued at $1,100 and a weedeater valued at $80 had been swiped from a church. The man stated he arrived at the church and found a storage shed had been broken into and the two items were missing from inside it. There are no suspects.
• A 27-year-old Success man reported on Oct. 11 that two chainsaws with a total value of $510 had been stolen from the bed of his pickup while it was at a Highway 32 residence at Roby. The man told an investigating officer that video from the scene showed a man taking the saws at about 1 a.m.
A 44-year-old Plato man is a suspect.
• Several deputies were involved in an investigation on Sept. 12 in which a 38-year-old man allegedly broke into his 66-year-old mother’s Freedom Road residence at Willow Springs and caused more than $7,000 in damage to various pieces of furniture, electronics and other items.
The suspect had also allegedly been stealing electricity after his power had been disconnected and a meter box removed from his residence adjacent to his mom’s.
A probable cause statement seeking felony property damage and utility theft charges against the man was sent to the county prosecutor.
• A deputy was dispatched at about 12:10 a.m. Oct. 3 after a man reported that another man was pointing a laser at an airplane flying over his residence at Maples.
The man told the officer he was contacted by the plane’s pilot and advised of the issue. The deputy was unable to locate anyone pointing a laser.
• A 21-year-old Mountain Grove woman reported on Oct. 3 that numerous items with a total value of $6,400 had been stolen from her Dogwood Road residence. There are no suspects.
