EIGHTH-GRADE VOLLEYBALL TEAM BEATS LIBERTY

The Houston eighth grade volleyball team edged Liberty 27-25, 26-24 last Thursday night.

Madison Reed and Karly Drake had five kills apiece for the Lady Tigers. Reed had three aces and Olivia Crites added two. Makenzi Arthur had a team-best 15 digs.

Houston rallied from a 23-19 deficit to win one set.

“We have been working on finishing the game, and not letting up. They did that tonight,” Houston coach JuliAnna Rodgers said.

SEVENTH GRADE: Angie Smith had nine aces in the Houston seventh-grade volleyball team’s 25-12, 19-25, 15-12 loss Thursday to Liberty.

Mikendra Ramsey and Kelsey Pritchett added one ace apiece.

“The seventh grade started slow but they fought back and came up just short,” Rodgers said.

HMS FOOTBALL TEAMS LOSE TO LIBERTY

The Houston Middle School football teams both lost last Thursday to Liberty.

The seventh-grade Tigers were defeated 32-14. The eighth grade lost 36-0.

In the seventh-grade game, J.J. Hebblethwaite had a 55-yard first-quarter touchdown run. Alex Garrison ran in the two-point conversion. In the second quarter, Oriam Morgan hit Alex Garrison for an 87-yard score.
