Wanda Lee Sloan, 86, of Mountain Grove, passed away Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018.

She was born Aug. 9, 1932, in eastern Douglas County near Topaz, daughter of Doug and Elpha Coble. She and Von Sloan were married Aug. 23, 1952. He passed away in September 1962. She later married Albert Rogers. He passed away in 1989.

She was born two months premature when her mother was thrown from the wagon she was riding in because the team of horses pulling it ran away. Because of her premature birth, she struggled with heart issues for most of her life.

She lived most of her life in Douglas County within a few miles of the place she was born; except for her high school years, which were spent in Bolivar and Buffalo.

She enjoyed cooking and sewing. She made most of her own clothes as well as clothes for many other people. She was a homemaker, farm wife and worked as an elementary school secretary before her retirement.

She was baptized at the age of 15 near Lebanon and was a member of the Field-stone Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and a great-granddaughter.

Survivors include three sons, Steve, Norris and Marty; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday, Oct. 15, at Elliott-GentryCarder Funeral Home, Cabool, with Don Pruitt officiating. Burial was in Penner Cemetery, Vanzant.
