The Houston Police Department handled several investigations in the last week.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:

•An officer was dispatched Oct. 11 regarding a report of a burglary at a U.S. 63 self storage business.

The officer made contact with an 86-year-old man there who said he and his wife had come to his storage unit and found the lock missing. He said several items had been stolen from inside, with a total value of $630.

The officer observed that three other units were missing locks, and the owners of those units were contacted. One had $750 worth of items taken, while $640 worth of goods were removed from another and items totaling $1,050 were swiped from the third.

The business has a surveillance video system, but it was not working properly at the time of the crimes. Investigation continues.

•An officer was dispatched Oct. 22 regarding property damage at the USDA building on South U.S. 63.

The officer made contact with a man and woman there who stated that someone had drilled holes in the gas tanks of three trucks parked behind the building. The officer observed that a gas container was left behind underneath one of the trucks, and that a toolbox on another truck had been pried on, and a small pry bar was still there.

The estimated total to replace the damaged tanks was $1,481. There are no suspects.

•On Oct. 26, an officer was investigating a fraud case involving a white Chrysler van at a U.S. 63 body shop.

Marlon Torres, 22, of 3792 Arc Way in Lawrenceville, Ga., was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail. The warrants were for 13 counts of computer invasion fraud and 13 counts of identity fraud.
