Members of the Texas County Commission met Oct. 24-25 and transacted several items of business. Among them were:
•Reviewed and prepared responses to written queries from George Sholtz of Upton.
•Approved invoices from Pat Keck, a Springfield attorney who represents the commission.
•Discussed the dismissal of a lawsuit a judge concerning Sholtz. The county is not responsible for damages to property on township property, a judge ruled.
•Reviewed correspondence from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarded Airport Road at Cabool.
•Heard from Parke Stevens, county prosecutor, regarding staff changes.
•Visited with Sheriff Rowdy Douglas about the completion of Taser and firearm training including a transport/corrections officer. He reviewed issues regarding food service. Staff, inmates and general issues were also highlighted.
•Reviewed a letter from Texas County Emergency Services about the lack of temperature controls for quarters it rents from the county.
•Adjourned into a closed session to consult with its legal counsel.
