Members of the Texas County Commission met Oct. 24-25 and transacted several items of business. Among them were:

• Reviewed and prepared responses to written queries from George Sholtz of Upton.

• Approved invoices from Pat Keck, a Springfield attorney who represents the commission.

• Discussed the dismissal of a lawsuit a judge concerning Sholtz. The county is not responsible for damages to property on township property, a judge ruled.

• Reviewed correspondence from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarded Airport Road at Cabool.

• Heard from Parke Stevens, county prosecutor, regarding staff changes.

• Visited with Sheriff Rowdy Douglas about the completion of Taser and firearm training including a transport/corrections officer. He reviewed issues regarding food service. Staff, inmates and general issues were also highlighted.

• Reviewed a letter from Texas County Emergency Services about the lack of temperature controls for quarters it rents from the county.

• Adjourned into a closed session to consult with its legal counsel.
