DOUGLAS STALDER

William Douglas Stalder, 76, son of William and Ruth (King) Stalder, was born April 3, 1942, in Houston, Mo. He passed away Nov. 2, 2018, in Houston, Mo.

Doug grew up in Houston and attended Houston Schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1962 and was stationed in New York and New Jersey. He was dis charged in 1964 and moved back to his hometown of Houston. He began to work in Fort Leonard Wood as a plumber, retiring after 20 years. He decided he needed to keep busy so he started his own plumbing business. Doug met Dora Hanson in Houston and they were married on Dec. 31, 1971. They spent almost 47 years together, enjoying many times together.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Dora of Houston, Mo.; one stepdaughter, Vickie Floyd; two grandsons, Jimmy Cross of Springfield, Mo., and his two children Kody and Kristan, and Tony Cross of Houston, Mo., and his daughter, Emily; two sisters, Mary Roderick and husband, Danny, of Bucyrus, Mo., and Verna Stalder of Success, Mo.; one brother, Dave Stalder of Houston, Mo.; two nieces, Tracy and Sandy; and four great-nieces, Maia, Lily, Jade and Willow.

Doug loved to fish, spending many hours on the rivers, lakes and ponds. He also enjoyed gardening and playing bingo. Doug never met a stranger and loved visiting with everyone.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Memorial services with full military honors were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Root officiating.
