A new agriculture educator has joined the University of Missouri Extension office in Houston.
Eric Meusch began duties Nov. 5 in Texas County. His role with the organization will be to plan, implement and evaluate education programs to support agriculture in the county. He will coordinate with MU Extension specialists, local agencies and community leaders.
“My goal is to build and support relationships that ensure MU Extension is best meeting the agricultural information needs of producers in Texas County,” Meusch said.
Meusch earned a masters of science in fisheries and allied aquacultures from Auburn University. He worked 20 years in southeast Asia for various international organizations in the areas of aquaculture, farming systems and natural resources management.
“Texas County is an important area for beef production in Missouri, so cattle and forage producers are a major focus,” Meusch said. “Other products such as small ruminants, swine, poultry and produce are important on a smaller scale, so I will also be assisting these producers.”
Meusch has ties to Texas County. His aunt and uncle, Roger Holder and Sandra Holder Manier, are Houston residents.
