Norma Leona Troutman was born Dec. 27, 1926, to Carl and Frieda Waldorf Weppner in Pevely, Mo. She passed away Nov. 19, 2018, at Houston House in Houston, Mo.
Norma graduated from Houston High School with the class of 1944. On July 11, 1945, she married William Roy Troutman and to this union three children were born.
While raising the three children she was active as a 4H club leader, opening her home to cooking classes for young 4Hers. She oversaw the junior division exhibits at the Old Settlers Reunion now known as the Texas County Fair. She spent many summers as a cook at Simmons Baptist Camp and countless hours getting the camp ready each year for campers. She began work in the Houston School Cafeteria in the 1960s and retired after 20-plus years of service. After retiring, she joined the Rocky Branch Quilting Club and enjoyed hours of fellowship with her quilting friends. She also volunteered at the Houston Senior Center and the Texas County Museum. Later, when she became increasingly more homebound, she became an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Norma accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at a young age. She was a longtime member of the Central Baptist Church, serving in many positions and attending faithfully as long as her health permitted.
Norma was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, William Roy Troutman; a daughter, Mary Lou Hedspeth; a son, Donald Ray Troutman; and three brothers, Orville, Arthur and Eugene Weppner.
