The Houston eighth-grade girls’ basketball team completed its 2018 season last week by winning the West Plains Tournament.

The Lady Tigers capped a 3-0 week by cruising past Howell Valley 38-14 last Thursday. Houston also beat Mountain Grove and Willow Springs.

Houston finished with a 10-4 record under coach Kaylon Buckner.

In the final game of the round-robin tournament, Rhease Manier scored 13 points and Aliyah Walker scored 11 in the 22-point win against Howell Valley.

In Monday’s tournament opener against Mountain Grove, the Lady Tigers jumped ahead 16-2 in the first quarter en route to a 41-33 win. Manier led the way with 12 points. Walker scored eight, Karlee Curtis had seven and Katie Jo Chipps added six.

After falling behind early Tuesday, the Lady Tigers cruised to a 36-19 win against Willow Springs. Curtis scored eight points, Walker and Manier had seven apiece and Chipps and Gracie Tottingham each scored six.
