A West Plains man faces a felony drug charge following a traffic stop last week.
Christopher L. Ashmead, of West Plains, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and driving while revoked after a Texas County Sheriff’s Department deputy conducted a traffic stop Dec. 11 on U.S. 60 near the Garden Inn.
The deputy made the check after observing a black Chevrolet Impala heading eastbound on U.S. 60 with no operating registration light.
After making contact with the driver – Ashmead – the officer discovered his license was revoked. Ashmead reportedly consented to a search, and two syringes were found, one containing liquid meth.
A woman was also in Ashmead’s vehicle, but wasn’t charged, according to a report.
The arresting officer noted that Ashmead had at least five prior convictions for driving while revoked. He was taken to jail and later charged. His bond was set at $150,000.
