A wanted man was arrested after a chase and search Monday night north of Cabool.

A county man was arrested Dec. 17 after leading a state officer on a chase and sparking a manhunt, authorities said.

Daniel M. Nolan, 33, of Cabool, attempted to elude a Missouri State Highway Patrol officer at about 6 p.m. and would not stop his vehicle when the trooper tried to pull it over for speeding. Nolan reportedly went down a dead-end roadway, turned around and came at the trooper’s vehicle, striking it and causing minor damage.

The chase continued southwest of the Simmons area on several state and township roads near a region that includes Highways PP and Z. Eventually, the suspect’s vehicle crashed on Oak Grove Road, caught fire and Nolan fled. Additional officers were called to the scene and a perimeter was secured.

The Houston Rural Fire Department responded, but a patrol officer was able to bring the blaze under control with an extinguisher.

A tracking dog was sought, and at about 9:20 p.m. Nolan was found at a residence about a mile from where he abandoned his vehicle. He was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail, where he is held without bond.

The patrol said Nolan was wanted on a felony probation violation warrant from Miller County. He also faces felony assault on a law officer after hitting a law enforcement vehicle, felony resisting arrest by fleeing, careless and imprudent driving involving an accident and speeding.
