Houston sophomore Ty Franklin leads a fast break down the floor last Tuesday against Alton.

A late dry spell cost the Houston Tigers a chance at a home victory.

After going on a 10-2 run to take a four-point lead in the fourth quarter, HHS went more than four minutes without a point as Alton rallied for a 46-44 win last Tuesday night inside Hiett Gymnasium.

The Tigers, who trailed by four entering the fourth quarter, led 41-37 on Kyler Ramsey’s free throws with 4 minutes, 27 seconds left. But they wouldn’t score again until Ramsey banked in a 3-pointer at the buzzer as Alton scored nine unanswered points.

Ramsey led Houston with a season high 16 points, including two triples.

“We challenged him to score more, and I thought he had a heck of a ballgame,” Tigers coach Rod Gorman said.

Houston led 17-11 after the opening quarter on Ramsey’s buzzer-beating triple. Alton led 25-24 at the half.

JUNIOR VARSITY: Jacob Moseley scored 15 points in the JV Tigers’ 53-26 loss to Alton.
