A Licking teenager was was injured early Sunday morning when a vehicle she was riding in struck a bridge near her hometown. The driver faces multiple charges.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said Sydney M. Breedlove, 19, was taken by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital. She had moderate injuries.
The driver, Daniel W. Deluca, 19, of Rolla, was arrested about six hours after the accident and charged with multiple offenses: driving while intoxicated causing serious physical injury; felony assault-second degree; leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident; property damage in excess of $1,000; careless and imprudent driving involving a motor vehicle accident; minor in possession; no seat belt; and making a false report.
The 4 a.m. accident was four miles northwest of Licking on Schafer Road. The vehicle was totaled.
Deluca is held in the Texas County Jail on $200,000 bond.
