Margarette Elizabeth Williams, 85, was born Nov. 13, 1933, to Sam Sylvester and Helen Almeda (Thomas) Caudle. She died at Cox South, Springfield, Mo., on Jan. 17, 2019.
She married Grover Williams on April 30, 1950. They moved to the Lynchburg, Mo., area in 1959. They were members of the Mt. Carney Christian Church, where she loved leading the song services in her younger years.
Margarette began her career in St Louis, Mo., as a telephone operator. After returning back home, she worked for the telephone office at Ft. Leonard Wood, later moving to the installation photo identification lab. She retired after 35 years of service.
Her passion was her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved piecing quilts and embroidery of quilt pieces. Margarette loved her community and was often seen attending school functions for her great-grandchildren. She was one of the first to cheer them on.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Junior Dale Caudle and Alfred Lane Caudle; and a sister, Dosia Geraldine Plantenga.
Surviving is her husband of 68 years, Grover Williams of the home; two daughters, Irita Barnard and husband, Marty, of Lynchburg, Mo., and Peggy Bennett and husband, Mark, of Lebanon, Mo.; grandchildren, Thomas Miller (Melanie)of Falcon, Mo., Aaron Miller (Christy) of Lynchburg, Mo., Nicole Cooper (Adam) of Anderson, Mo., and Steven Bennett (Jessie)of Lebanon, Mo.; great-grandchildren, Wiley Miller, McKayla Miller, Garon Miller, Kaylee Miller, Ariel Cooper and Zoley Cooper; three brothers, Russell Caudle (Verna) of Georgia, Carroll Caudle (Leota) and Shelton Caudle and a sister, Shirley Sell all of Niangua, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews she was extremely fond of. Margarette delighted in each and every one of their great talents and accomplishments.
Services were 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 21, 2019, at Palace Church with Pastor Steve Spencer officiating. Burial was in Palace Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marty Penley, David Hall, Fred Sutton, Kenneth Cook, Ty Wilkins and Leonard Neibruegge. Arrangements were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
