Authorities are investigating several crimes in the county.

The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•Deputies responded May 4 to a report of a woman being held against her will in a vehicle at a Reed Road residence at Licking.

A 28-year-old woman there told officers a 41-year-old Eldon man had picked her up in a gray Dodge pickup and he had begun driving erratically as soon as she got in. She said that at one point she got on the phone with her boyfriend, which had angered the driver.

The woman told officers she had asked several times to get out of the truck because the man’s driving was scaring her, but whenever she began to open the door to exit, he would accelerate and even grab her arm or hand to keep her inside.

The woman reportedly stated the man pulled into a driveway at a Kitchem Drive residence to turn around and she was able to escape.

A probable cause state was sent to the county prosecutor seeking a second-degree kidnapping charge against the man.

•On April 30, a deputy was on the way to a well-being check request at a Boiling Springs Road residence at Licking, and noticed a vehicle in a driveway that matched the description of one that was reported stolen earlier the same day.

A computer check of the license plate confirmed it was the allegedly stolen vehicle. The deputy made contact with a 55-year-old woman at the residence and asked who had been driving the vehicle.

The woman reportedly said a large bald lady had been the driver and a man was with her. The officer asked if the two people were in the house, and the woman said they weren’t.

The officer asked to search the home for the people and the woman said that would be fine. While walking through the kitchen, the officer observed a digital scale with several crystal shards on top of it that field tested positive as methamphetamine. The meth reportedly weighed five grams.

A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

•A 36-year-old woman reported on April 24 that three cameras with a total value of $460 had been stolen from her Highway AA residence at Licking.

The woman told an investigating officer the suspect had entered through her daughter’s bedroom window, because caulking from the window was on the bed and her daughter’s prom dress had been moved.

There are no suspects and investigation continues.

•A 66-year-old Willow Springs man reported on April 28 that a red 1994 Toyota pickup valued at $1,000 had been swiped from his Honeyfield Drive residence.

The man told an investigating officer he believed a man living in a trailer home on Freedom Road might be to blame. Investigation continues.

•A 42-year-old man reported on April 28 that a cemetery sign on Pigeon Creek Road had been shot several times.

The man told an investigating officer that there is a trailer house adjacent to the cemetery and its occupants might be to blame. Investigation continues.
