TheTexas County Memorial Hospital Healthcare Foundation recently received a 2018 Kawasaki Mule to raffle for the Hospice of Care at the 2019 Chili Cook Off.

The utility vehicle will be awarded to a winner at the Nov. 9 event hosted by the TCMH Healthcare Foundation. The group partnered with S&H Farm Supply in Mountain Grove for the utility vehicle.

“We always have a large item with raffle tickets for our chili cook off teams to use to raise funds for their team, and this year we partnered again with S&H Farm Supply in Mountain Grove for the all-terrain, utility vehicle,” said Jay Gentry, Healthcare Foundation director.

The Kawasaki Mule is a black and green colored SX 4X4 XC model with a top and has cast aluminum wheels. Its retail value is $8,800. A generous donation by S&H Farm Supply and Kawasaki helped to cover a portion of the unit’s cost.

Tickets are raffled for $10 each or $50 for six tickets. The UTV will be located outside of TCMH beginning mid-June.

“We have always had a great response when we raffle any type of all-terrain vehicle,” said Courtney Owens, Hospice of Care director. “The Mule is really versatile for leisure or work, for small or large properties, so it appeals to everyone.”

The 13th annual Chili Cook Off will also include both silent and live auctions. Donations from various businesses and people in the community will be auctioned. Some auction items from previous years include vacation packages and handcrafted furniture.

Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go toward overall fundraising for the event.

Funds from the Healthcare Foundation’s Hospice Fund and the annual Chili Cook Off are used to provide end of life care for patients and their families, regardless of a patient’s ability to pay for the service, as well as assist with volunteer training, and other needs for patients as they arise.

“Our hospice funds are used locally to benefit the patients we serve within a 40-mile radius of TCMH,” Owens said.

Raffle tickets for the Kawasaki Mule are available to purchase through the Hospice of Care office located in the TCMH Office Annex, the TCMH Registration Department located in the main hospital building and are available from any of the teams that are participating in this year’s cook off.

There are still spaces for Chili Cook Off teams for this year’s event. Teams must consist of five people and the entry fee is $150 per team. Tickets to the event are $10 for adults and $5 for children and are available through Hospice of Care and the Healthcare Foundation at TCMH.
