LYNSEY M. MOBERLY

A Summersville man and Raymondville woman each face multiple charges after an incident involving three law enforcement agencies and a long vehicle pursuit in April.

Dylan J. Cooper, 22, of 22874 Elderberry Drive at Summersville is charged with felonies of possession of a controlled substance and resisting or interfering with an arrest for a felony, along with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged June 7. Lynsey M. Moberly, 22, of 9001 Kelly Drive at Raymondville, is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. She was charged June 5.

According to a report by Summersville Police Department Chief Kevin Jotz, Cooper was driving a silver Chevrolet S-10 pickup within the city limits at about 11:20 p.m. that had no license plate or temporary tag. The truck was seen making a turn from Highway JJ onto Fourth Street without signaling, and an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop.

But the truck accelerated and was clocked at 50 miles per hour on a gravel road, Jotz said. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Texas County Sheriff’s Department were contacted for assistance, and Jotz reported that a pursuit ensued that spanned about 24 miles and lasted about 40 minutes.

Along the way, three civilian vehicles were reportedly forced to pull over to avoid a collision with Cooper. Jotz said the chase finally ended when Cooper failed to negotiate a turn and crashed into a dirt embankment in front of his residence.

A search of the truck was then conducted, Jotz said, and a zippered case was found that contained two smoking devices, each with residue that tested positive as methamphetamine.

During questioning at the Texas County Justice Center, Cooper and Moberly reportedly each claimed to own one of the devices. A third person who was in the truck was released at the scene of the crash and not charged.

Cooper’s bond is set and $200,000 and Moberly’s is set at $25,000.
