The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•A deputy on June 2 responded to a report of two window air conditioning units with a total value of $350 being stolen from a Kimble Road rental house at Licking owned by a 49-year-old Edgar Springs woman. Investigation continues.
•A deputy was dispatched at about 11:50 a.m. June 2 regarding a report of a domestic dispute at a Kitchem Drive residence at Licking.
A 30-year-old woman involved told the officer her 25-year-old boyfriend had broken the windshield of her vehicle with a speaker, but she said she didn’t want to sign a complaint.
The boyfriend told the officer the woman had hit him with a bat and damaged his Xbox, but he also said he didn’t want to sign a complaint.
•A deputy responded on May 27 to a report of harassment and threats being made by a man against a 60-year-old man and 37-year-old woman at a Highway 17 residence at Plato.
The man told the officer the suspect came by his horse barn and stated he was owed $3,000 and that he could kill the man with just his thumb and then eat a sandwich afterward. The man told the deputy the suspect’s wife owes him $1,000 for caring for her horse, and that she wanted to trade the services for sex.
•On June 1, two deputies traveled to a Highway 32 residence at Roby to arrest Matthew M. Moda, 37, on a pair of outstanding Texas County felony warrants.
MATTHEW MODA
A man who answered the door reportedly told the officers he hadn’t seen Moda since the previous night. Deputies checked inside the residence and found Moda hiding under a pile of laundry in a closet.
He was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Texas County Jail.
•Deputies were dispatched at about 8:20 p.m. May 24 regarding a report of a break-in at a Piney Drive residence at Houston.
A 32-year-old woman who lives there told the officer a 23-year-old neighbor man had kicked in the back door after swiping a lawn mower earlier the same day. Contact was made with the suspect, and he said he didn’t break down the door and had been with his boss at the reported time of the crime.
