The Texas County Justice Center is situated at Grand Avenue and Spruce Street in Houston.

Members of the Texas County Commission discussed an expansion of the Texas County Justice Center parking lot during its meeting on July 10.

Commissioners considered working with Drury University architectural students regarding increasing the size of the lot at Grand Avenue and Spruce Street. Drury is familiar with downtown Houston. It earlier performed a comprehensive study for the area.

In other matters, members:

•Discussed an issue with a wall in the recorder of deeds office. Several areas of the building have been affected by recent rains.

•Reviewed correspondence from its insurance carrier on cyber-security.

•Voted in an election concerning the hospital’s community improvement district. A tally was set to be completed Tuesday evening.

•Heard Assessor Debbie James report a Piney Drive road issue.

•Learned from Sheriff Scott Lindsey that a keycard security system has been installed at the justice center. He also reported that Seth Kliethermes was hired as a full-time jailer on July 3 and discussed internet and phone service, as well as legal issues.

•Heard from Jason Silvis of Great Rivers Engineers about changes made to a bridge replacement program.

•Met with the commission’s attorney, Ivan Schrader, concerning legal matters.
