Sales tax collections were up in the first six months of the year in Houston.

Sales tax collections in the first half of the year are up in the City of Houston, according to a Missouri Department of Revenue report. 

The total for the first six months of the year from a one-cent sales tax is $379,520, which is up $17,878 from the same period a year ago. That’s an increase of about 5 percent from 2018.

Merchants also collect two quarter-cent sales taxes for streets, sidewalks and utility work. Each contributed about $89,189 for the first half. That’s up about $1,419 for the year. 

The city’s cut of taxes collected on internet sales is $18,511 for the year.
