Bonnie Carter, a retired teacher who spread cheer to thousands, has died.
Mrs. Carter, a Bucyrus resident, passed away Thursday. She was 88.
Over the years, many a Texas County resident received a trademark laminated newspaper clipping in the mail, along with words of encouragement in a greeting card. A birthday might also bring another round of cheer. Her generosity knew no limit. She was a frequent donor to civic causes and anything that supported education. She was active in the Texas County Retired Teachers Association, Texas County Historical and Genealogical Society, the Houston Alumni Association and First Baptist Church. After retirement, she tutored students in her home.

She and her late husband were active in the Little League program and a field is named in their honor.
