James Henry Clem, Jr, age 79, was born in Kansas City, Mo., to James Henry and Ruth (Munden) Clem. He passed away Oct. 6, 2019 at his home in Licking, Mo.
He is preceded in death by his parents. Jim is survived by his wife, Patricia Burke of the home; a son, James A. Clem of Boulder, Colo.; and two step-daughters, Gina Bass of St Charles, Mo. and Michelle Stanley.
Jim grew up in Kansas City, Mo. He graduated in 1957 from South East High School in Kansas City, Mo. He attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City receiving his degree in electronic technology.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, from 1959 until 1967, during Vietnam, being honorably discharged as an Electronic Technician 1st Class.
Jim worked for Honeywell, Inc. as a Senior Contact Sales Rep in Kansas City, Omaha and St. Louis. He retired from Corrosion Products Inc of St. Louis, Mo.
He married Patricia Munden Oct. 31, 1987. They enjoyed 32 years together.
He loved music, and all things in nature: wildflowers, birds, fishing, hiking and canoeing. When he was younger Jim had achieved the highest honor in the Boy Scouts, an Eagle Scout. He was a member of VFW and American Legion. Jim was always involved in many activities that involved nature. He was a member of Missouri Master Naturalist, Forest Keepers, Stream Team and Christian Native Craft Workshop as a teacher and board member.
The best medicine he received was the people, family, friends, nurses and strangers that visited, dropped in or helped him in his illness. They made him smile and feel his best. He will be missed by all those who loved and knew him best.
A Celebration Gathering of Friends is 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2019, at the Texas County Museum of Arts and History, Licking, Mo. The family requests memorials to Texas County Museum of Arts and History.
