Judy (Smith) Gettys, age 75, daughter of Mattie (Fortenberry) and GR Smith, was born on Oct. 16, 1944, near McCrory, Ark. She passed away Nov. 24, 2019, at the home of Sheri and Shane Wade, Houston, Mo.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dale, parents, sister Linda and brother John.
She is survived by two sons: Jayme Gettys (Krystal) of St. Robert, Mo., and David Taylor (Rochelle) of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter Sheri Wade (Shane) of Houston, Mo., and one special daughter Erin Abney (Glen) of Houston, Mo.; one sister, Shelia Milton (Mike) of McCrory, Ark.; three brothers, Dewayne (Darlene) and Terry Smith of McCrory, Ark., and Tony Smith of DesArc, Ark., loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Judy married the love of her life, Dale Gettys on April 22, 1966. He was her greatest joy and her greatest loss. Reunited now in heaven for eternity.
She accepted Christ as her Savior early in life and now celebrates her homegoing to Heaven.
To know her was to have been touched by an Angel. She was simply all heart. She found her greatest moments in being surrounded by her family. They were her greatest treasure, joy and love.
Judy was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend. She left us with memories to last a lifetime. Yet, her loss will be felt in our hearts until we see her again.
Philippians 1:3, “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” “From this day on we will be thankful for every moment we had with you. We will be forever grateful you were ours. Forever mindful of the example you set for all of us.”
Services were 2 p.m. Tuesday Nov. 26, in Evans Funeral Home. Pastor Floyd McDonnell III officiated with Dr. Howell Burkhead assisting and Pam Anderson sharing memories.
Pallbearers were Shane Wade, Darin Wade, Dylon Wilkins, Coty Shelton, Korbyn Tune and Connor Taylor; honorary pallbearers were George Williams Sr. and George Williams Jr. Burial was in the Ozark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Hospice of Care.
