A Winona man was injured early Saturday south of Summersville, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. 

Two persons were injured in an accident early Saturday about four miles west of Summersville on Highway WW, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Cpl. Terry Nelson said a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Christopher A. Sandoval, 20, of Winona, failed to negotiate a curve at about 1:30 a.m., ran off the highway, struck hay bales and overturned.

Sandoval was transferred with serious injuries and was transported to Mercy in Springfield. A passenger, Jacob W. Wilson, 19, of Newark, had minor injuries and was to seek his own treatment.

Both were wearing seat belts, and the vehicle was totaled.
