The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:
•Deputies were dispatched Jan. 1 regarding a report of domestic dispute at a Highway AM residence at Mountain Grove.
Upon arrival, a deputy made contact with a 38-year-old man who stated he had been arguing with a 31-year-old woman because she wanted him to beat up another man, and he was being set up. The man had a visible bruise around his left eye and said the woman had punched him.
Another officer spoke with the woman, and she said the man had broken her phone and wouldn’t let her leave. She stated the man sustained the black eye when someone had punched him a couple of days earlier.
A Mountain Grove police officer confirmed that the man had received the black eye while involved in an altercation two days prior.
The woman – Amber L. Cummings, 31, of 10520 Highway AM at Mountain Grove – was found to have three active Wright County warrants and was taken into custody. No new charges were sought in the incident.
•A deputy responded to a report of a peace disturbance at about 8:15 p.m. Jan. 2 at the Midway Bar on Business 60 at Mountain Grove.
The bartender stated a 55-year-old man had assaulted someone earlier and been removed from the bar by customers. The bartender said the suspect then began trying to break windows and threatened to kill everyone in the building. She said he left and then returned and was banging on the doors and windows with what looked like a gun.
The alleged assault victim – a 42-year-old Cabool woman – declined to fill out a statement and didn’t wish to pursue charges. The suspect refused medical treatment for an injury sustained in the fight, and was barred from the bar.
•On Jan. 3, a deputy investigated a report of cattle damaging signs and knocking over headstones at the Long Hollow Cemetery at Roby.
The officer made contact with the 68-year-old man who is the caretaker of the cemetery and he said he wasn’t sure when the cattle had been there, but there was a large amount of feces all over the place as evidence of their presence. The owner of the cattle was also unknown and investigation continues.
•Trevor A. Light, 25, of 12549 Kitchen Drive, No. 3, at Licking, was issued a citation for trespassing on Jan. 4.
A deputy wrote the citation after being dispatched to the Sleepy Hollow Trailer Park regarding a report of a man in a residence without permission.
A 45-year-old woman who lives there told the officer Light had entered her home while she had been at a neighbor’s residence. She said she tried to get him to leave and he refused.
The officer observed Light passed out in a chair and woke him up. He was taken to jail for a 12-hour hold period.
•A deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a cow being shot and killed at a Shafer Road property at Licking.
A 60-year-old woman there told the officer she had heard a gunshot the night before and found the cow the next day with a bullet hole under its eye. There are no suspects.
•A 64-year-old Willow Springs man reported on Jan. 6 that his 2020 Chevrolet pickup had been stolen by a woman (of unreported age or residence).
The man stated OnStar determined the truck was in Howell County, and the Howell County Sheriff’s Department and Missouri State Highway Patrol were advised.
The vehicle was reportedly found a short time later and the woman was detained. The man said he didn’t want to pursue charges and she was released.
•A 44-year-old Licking woman reported on Jan. 8 that a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle valued at $6,855 and a Honda ATV valued at $2,000 had been stolen from the garage at her Lotz Drive residence.
The woman named a Licking man (of unreported age) as a suspect. Investigation continues.
•On Jan. 6, a deputy investigated a report of a 19-year-old man sitting in his truck passed out with a hose in his mouth connected to a propane bottle at his Highway KK residence at Hartshorn.
When the man regained consciousness, he was taken to the Texas County Jail for a safekeeping hold until forms could be completed for a 96-hour mental evaluation.
•Kayla B. Revelle, 19, of 18891 Old Salem Road at Licking, was issued citations for fourth-degree domestic assault, second-degree property damage and driving while suspended after an incident Jan. 5 at a Kimble Road residence at Licking.
Revelle was cited after allegedly punching a man in the face, hitting a sink with a hammer and driving away despite having a suspended license. She was taken to jail for a 12-hour hold period.
