Kathy Marie Romine Kirkwood abruptly passed on Dec. 26, 2019, at the age of 66. She was born in Detroit, Mich., on May 23, 1953, to Gaylon Romine and Wilma (Nettles) Franklin. She became a Texas County native as a young teen. She attended Houston High School where she was a commendable student and athlete as well. She was a member of the track team, and hurdles were her specialty.
She was married in March of 1972 to Dennis Everette French of Nebo, Mo.
In her mid-30s she met the love of her life, Arthur Lee Kirkwood. They were married in October of 1987. They lived on a small dairy farm in Mountain Grove for many years, before settling in their home in Simmons, Mo.
She resided in Houston for many years. She was a hard worker, holding down two jobs in a local factory as well as the family-owned business.
Kathy was an earthy person, always quick to cure you with some kind of herbal home remedy. She enjoyed gardening and planting wildflowers around her home. Her daily ritual was sitting on the front porch drinking coffee and watching the birds at their feeders. During any family get together you never had to worry, because we had DJ Kathy! 70s music all the way. She was an exciting person with an explosive personality, being a very social person, she was the life of the party, always drawing people to her with her witty sense of humor. She was an outdoors person. She loved cruising the back roads, swimming at the creek and going to live concerts. She had a very fulfilled life. Spending quality time with her loved ones was her main enjoyment.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gaylon Romine and brother Darrell Romine.
She is survived by her mother Wilma Franklin of Cabool, Mo.; siblings, Donnie and Debbie Romine of Fayette, Mo., Gerald and Lorraine Romine of Branson, Mo., William (Billy) Franklin of Willow Springs, Mo., Gayla Romine of Piggott, Ark., and Matthew Romine of Piggott, Ark.; her husband, Arthur Kirkwood of Eminence, Mo.; her children; Candice Mitchell, Chanda Sears and significant other Mike Moore, Cassie Westfall and significant other Chris Finch, Adam Kirkwood and significant other Samantha Dennis, Kelly Kirkwood Goins and husband John; grandchildren, Macie and Mikayla Mitchell, Skylar McKee, Shelbi Moore, Adriauna Williams, Shaynna York, Kaydance and Wyatt Kirkwood and Bailey Kirkwood; as well as five great-grandchildren.
She was loved by many and will be deeply missed however she will be in our hearts and memories forever.

Services are 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, at Evans Funeral Home with Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in Miller Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. Pallbearers were: Skylar McKee, Tyler Simms, Mike Moore, John Goins, Adam Kirkwood, Rex Franklin, Chris Finch and Tommy Stanton.
