Members of the Texas County Commission transacted business recently.
Jan. 6-10 session
Members:
•Discussed a roof top HVAC unit at the justice center and inmate bills at Texas County Memorial Hospital.
•Met with Rob Harrington, economic development director for the City of Houston, concerning a budget allocation for the Piney River Technical Center in Houston.
•Reviewed and approved a contract for legal services.
•Authorized 2020 contracts with Sherrill and Jackson townships.
•Met with Lee Smith, county maintenance supervisor, about light fixtures at Texas County Emergency Services, budget for the buildings and grounds and flag poles for the Texas County Administration Center.
•Held discussions with Assessor Debbie James, Collector-Treasurer Tammy Cantrell, Recorder Lindsay Koch and Coroner Marie Lasater. Members also reviewed budget requests from the circuit clerk and associate circuit judge.
•Met with Sheriff Scott Lindsey. He reported Sharon Royal was hired Dec. 23 as a full-time jailer. She resigned on Jan. 6. The commission and sheriff discussed inmate medical bills.
Jan. 13-17 session
•Learned FEMA/SEMA held a meeting in the basement of the Texas County Administration Center. Members were unable to attend due to budget preparations.
•Met with Brad Rees and Eric Ellis of Chilton Oil Co. regarding propane tanks at the Texas County Justice Center.
•Approved contracts with Boone, Ozark, Lynch and Pierce townships.
•Reviewed correspondence from MU Extension and examined the Texas County Library system’s budget.
•Stopped payment on outstanding checks dates Jan. 24, 2018 – June 6, 2018.
