Members of the Texas County Commission transacted several items during a Feb. 19-20 session, according to recently released minutes.

Commissioners:

•Reviewed correspondence from Schraeder Law Firm, Russell Land Development Co., Texas County University Extension Council, Marco Printing and Indian Creek Materials regarding its mining operation.

•Approved a contract with Upton Township.

•Heard From Glenn McKinney of Houston regarding the Armed Forces Day on May 16 at the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce community building. He suggested a proclamation be issued.

•Approved a letter of support for the South Central Solid Waste Management District.

COMMISSION MEETS

Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters recently, according to released minutes. 

•Heard from Kim Bittle of the U.S. Forest Service regarding the design of a Paddy Creek Bridge.

•Held discussions with its attorney, Ivan Schraeder.

•Discussed staff changes and other matters with Sheriff Scott Lindsey. Alyssa B. Murrell resigned Feb. 15 as a full-time jailer. They also discussed per diem and a meals report.

•Approved a request from the collector-treasurer to remove some back taxes off the books where owners couldn’t be found.

•Authorized a waiver for a property tax billing error due to a misspelling.
