My name is Dalton Dzurick, and I have the honor to serve as the Houston FFA Chapter’s president. This is my senior year in school. My SAE, or supervised agriculture experience, is raising beef cattle. I also work on the family farm taking care of the other animals that live on it.
The FFA organization has meant so much to me ever since I heard about it. It was a chance to gather with other students in school who have similar interests, and some from similar backgrounds. We travel across the state competing in many agriculture-related contests, in an attempt to learn more about the ag world around us. We then bring that knowledge back to our community, and spread the word.
My favorite FFA activity is going to the national convention, and meeting thousands of other FFA members from around the nation. Everyone comes from different backgrounds, and it is interesting to hear others agriculture and FFA stories. My favorite FFA memory was going to Camp Rising Sun for a week, and becoming a camp officer. It meant so much to me to be able to help lead a group of FFA members all week, and inspire them. My future plans are to go to college and get a degree in agriculture education, and get hired as an ag teacher. I want to become what others have for me, and share what I have learned with those willing to listen.
