Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during their Jan. 31-Feb. 1 meetings.
Members:
- Spoke with Jake Parsons and Alan Fry, Higginbotham Insurance, on benefits for the county.
- Spoke with Karpel Solutions on telephone and IT services.
- Signed and approved Pierce, Piney, Cass, Morris, Sargent, Jackson, Carroll, Current and Roubidoux township contracts.
- Spoke with Jill Garrett and Marsha Hawkins Hourd to discuss funding for a medical detox center.
- Took bid proposals from contractors for Camp Road Bridge. West Plains Bridge and Grading was the only bid.
- Met with the collector/treasurer, assessor and county clerk concerning procedures for implementing SB190.
- Reviewed and acknowledged the resignation of Blakelynn Watts effective Feb. 1.
- Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Anthony Hagen, full-time jailer, effective Feb. 1.
- The collector/treasurer requested that the commission approve removing deceased taxpayers from the tax rolls.
In other business, commissioners heard from:
- George Sholtz who made the commission aware of a demand letter concerning the hospital, and discussed Fort Leonard Wood.
- Danny Purcell to dispute his taxes.
- Andy Turpin inquiring about old school records.
- Tony Floyd concerning advertising for bids for Twin Cities Industrial Park.
