The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Jan. 30, a deputy was dispatched to Wildhaber’s Store in Raymondville regarding a report of a counterfeit $50 bill.

The officer observed surveillance video that showed a man and woman playing slot machines. The man reportedly gave the woman some cash, and she went to the front counter to exchange it for smaller bills.

The counterfeit bill was then identified. A probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor seeking charges against the woman, a 42-year-old Raymondville resident.

  • A deputy was dispatched Jan. 31 regarding a report of theft at a construction site on a Stave Mill Road property at Mountain Grove.

The officer made contact with a man there who said a 150-foot reel of fiber optic cable valued at $11,500 had been stolen. There are no suspects.

  • On Dec. 16, a 43-year-old woman reported that a 44-year-old man was drunk and yelling at her at a Concord Road residence at Salem, in Texas County.

The woman told an investigating deputy that the man had threatened to kill her and had done major damage to her vehicle.

The man was found lying in a bed inside the residence. He was arrested and taken to jail, and a probable cause statement was sent to the county prosecutor.

  • A deputy investigated a report of theft on Dec. 31 at a Groves Drive property at Plato.

The officer made contact with a 31-year-old man who owns the property, who said he had discovered the entrance gate off its hinges and then found that two trailers and a lawn mower with a total value of $2,250 had been stolen, along with numerous black walnut trees valued at $5,000.

A 60-year-old Edgar Springs man is a suspect.

  • Troyce C. Autrey, 29, of Country Are Lane, Lot 1, in Cabool, was arrested Jan. 19 for having an active Texas County warrant for a felony charge of second-degree assault.

A deputy made the arrest at Autrey’s residence and took him to jail. Cash-only bond on the charge was set at $2,000.
