Several resident requests were among matters discussed Monday by the Cabool City Council. 

Brad Roberts, alderman, asked those attending the meeting about junk in the streets. Several people are preparing for spring clean up days. He is concerned about a tree on Cedar and Cartwright blocking views. 

Kate Ellison, alderwoman, asked about the speed limit on DYS Drive and tornado sirens. 

John Williams, alderman, stated that a structure on Oak and Summit is not secure. He also asked if the city could work on a better way to communicate with residents. 

In other matters:

  • Janet Roberts, chamber, introduced the chamber’s new director, Kinley Tucker Pruett. She will work part-time. 
  • Ryan Wood, Cabool Bikes, requested that the city make a bike trail on the 20 acres behind Shetler’s Grocery. The city will check with insurance before making a decision. 
  • Debbie Stoutenborough asked about the junk vehicles in yards and RVs. The city will check on them. 
  • The council approved a liquor license for Snak Atak #42. 
  • Members approved phases one and two of the Mark Stoutenborough subdivision.
  • James Gray, a mayoral candidate,  addressed the council on the state tornado drill, the car charging station, a potential park speed zone, squatters, a blinking light, trees in power lines, a turning lane, animal rescues, streets lines and community service. Gray is holding a ‘Meet your Neighbor’ event March 23. 
  • Brad Ellsworth, former city attorney, stated that the current city personnel are doing a good job. 
  • The Twin City contract was signed. 
  • The street department is working on the sidewalk and the parks department has started mowing. 
  • The school asked if the city would be interested in joining them in a surplus auction. The city doesn’t have any items for an auction at this time. 
  • Spring clean up starts Monday, April 15. 
  • A YMCA contract, as well as MPUA and MMMPEP electrical agreements, were signed. 
  • A first and second reading took place for an ordinance approving the amended and restated power supply and administration agreement among the Missouri Joint Municipal Electric Utility Commission dba Missouri Electric Commission and members of the Mid-Missouri Public Energy Pool. 

The next regular meeting is 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 15.
