An area in northwest Texas County is under a boil water notice, a water district announced.

It includes portions of Public Water Supply District No. 1.

The advisory includes those on Highway 17 between Highway AP and Highway AA from Success to Bucyrus and along Highway 32 through Success. “This will also include any side roads that are connected to these main highways,” according to a statement released to the public.

The district said the reason for the precautionary boil advisory is due to a problem with a Success well.

It offered these directions:

1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations.

2. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.

3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.

4. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing, so that the water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may want to consult their physician before bathing.

“You may call our number 417-458-4569 at any time for the latest recorded message regarding this boil advisory. The after-hours number is 417-217-5208,” it said in the statement.

“The Public Water Supply District will notify you when the boil advisory has been lifted. We are sorry for any inconvenience to our customers.”
