The following are excerpts from reports recently generated by the Houston Police Department:
Between April 1 and April 7, the Houston Police Department answered 224 calls for service and initiated 39 traffic stops resulting in seven citations and 38 warnings.
- On April 2, officers investigated a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 17 and Hamrick Street. A 2015 Jeep operated by Clarice W. Burkey, 86, of Houston, collided with a 2011 Toyota operated by Pamela K. Stovall, 55, of Houston. There were no injuries reported. Burkey was cited for failure to yield right of way.
- On April 3, officers responded to the 700 block of Sommerfield Drive for a domestic disturbance. The altercation was only verbal and both parties were separated. No charges were sought in the matter.
- On April 3, Carolyn J. Cross, 66, of Houston, was issued a citation for failure to abate nuisance.
- On April 3, Thomas D. Borta, 79, of Houston, was issued a citation for failure to stop for a school bus stop arm.
- On April 5, officers investigated a fraud involving money being transferred from a victim’s bank account without authorization. The investigation is ongoing.
- On April 5, Dennis F. Bartlett, 76, of Houston, was issued a citation for failure to stop for a school bus stop arm.
- On April 5, officers arrested Shirley A. Brown, 31, of West Plains, on an active Texas County warrant per charge failure to appear-trafficking drugs 2nd degree and possession of a controlled substance. Brown also had an active St. Louis warrant per charge failure to appear-trafficking drugs. Brown was transported to the Texas County Jail and incarcerated as both warrants had no bond.
- On April 6, Sonya L. Halsey, 55, of Bucyrus, was issued a citation for operating a motor vehicle with no valid operator’s license.
- On April 6, officers responded to Walmart for a theft investigation. Upon further investigation, it was discovered three separate thefts had occurred. The suspect, Michael A. Cullen, 34, of Licking, was issued three citations for Stealing Under $750.
- On April 6, officers responded to Walmart again for a theft. A male suspect had taken items from the store without paying for them. The investigation continues.
