Two inmates at the South Central Correctional Center at Licking died over the weekend, the Missouri Department of Corrections reported.

James Schnick, 73, was serving multiple life sentences for six counts of first-degree murder – three out of Benton County and three out of Webster County. The death occurred at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11. Schnick had been in prison since May 24, 1988. Officials said an autopsy will be conducted.

Calvin Bowens, 61, was serving a 15-year sentence for first-degree child molestation out of St. Louis City. The death occurred at 6:36 a.m. Sunday, May 12. Bowens had been in prison since Sept. 19, 2012. Bowens died of apparent natural causes, officials said.
