The Cabool Police Department handled calls and incidents recently, including six animal complaints.

The department reported 23 traffic stops resulting in 10 summons and three warnings issued. Two arrests for non-traffic offenses were made.

At 11:10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, officers responded to a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 60 at Parkway. A 2010 GMC pulling a 2008 Cherokee horse trailer driven by Darrell Martin of Rolla struck the rear of a 2001 Dodge pulling a 1989 Lazy-N horse trailer driven by Anthony Shirley of Rolla that was stopped in the road waiting for a vehicle to make a left turn, officers said. No injuries were reported.

On Wednesday, Sept. 4, an officer checking on an anonymous complaint observed Kevin Bowling operating a vehicle. The officer checked Bowling’s status and found that the license was revoked. A traffic stop was conducted and a probable cause statement was forwarded to the Texas County prosecutor for felony driving while revoked/suspended and failure to register a motor vehicle with the Missouri Department of Revenue charges.

On Saturday, Sept. 7, an officer observed a motorcycle traveling the wrong lane of traffic and attempted to stop the vehicle. The driver of the motorcycle failed to stop and continued traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour for approximately two miles before pulling off to the shoulder. The driver identified as Mason Metroz, 19, and was taken into custody. A probable cause statement was forwarded to the Texas County prosecutor who issued warrants for felony resisting arrest, driving while revoked/suspended and failure to maintain financial responsibility. Bond is set at $1,500 cash only.

In total, police handled one accident, six animal complaints, one civil matter, two peace disturbances, two suspicious activity incidents, assisted other agencies 12 times, gave one private escort and assisted the public 10 times.

The fire department was dispatched 13 times.
