A woman from Licking faces drug charges after she was arrested during a routine traffic stop Thursday by the town’s police department, authorities said.
Payton N. Mordis, 31, is charged with second-degree trafficking of drugs, a class B felony; two counts of possession of a controlled substance, class D felonies; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and not having insurance, a misdemeanor.
Licking police stopped Mordis for an expired license plate, and she became uncooperative after an officer noticed bulges beneath her clothing.
After failing to consent to a search, Mordis was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail.
Upon arrival in Houston, Mordis admitted to possessing meth, fentanyl, needles and Xanax that she said she had acquired in Memphis while attending a concert.
Eventually, she turned over hidden items at the jail, including a plastic bag containing four hypodermic syringes, a Narcan nasal spray, several empty capsules and one orange pill. Police also found a single hypodermic syringe, a non-labeled prescription pill bottle containing four additional orange pills, a glass container with crystalline substance and a plastic baggie containing a crystalline substance that field tested for methamphetamine, according to a report.
She is held on a $3,500 cash bond.
