Virginia Fisher, a metalsmith artist at Bucyrus, is featured for November by the Missouri Arts Council.
“My home and studio are in the Missouri Ozarks. Here I am inspired by my beautiful surroundings and have space to enjoy my family and my creative work. My art is a dialogue between the untouched beauty of nature and the marks humans leave on the wild. Copper is my medium,” she says.

“It is an amazing material that can be patinated into a rainbow of colors. In the colors I most use, I find that the reds remind me of the earth, the blues of water and the greens of plants. And I choose copper not just for its beauty, but because it serves as a conductor, carrying my thoughts and observations from my world into a tangible form that speaks to others. The silver-plated dishes and trays that I incorporate into my art are a symbol for regrowth and the passage of time.”
