Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Nov. 6 and 7.

Members:

  • Met with BPJ Insurance representatives on health insurance renewal.
  • Reviewed and approved a request from Agape House and Christos House for domestic violence funds.
  • Reviewed and acknowledged the hiring of Patrick Kelley, as a full-time deputy sheriff, effective Nov. 13.
  • Were informed that Brandon Barnes, full-time deputy sheriff, gave a written notice of resignation, effective Nov. 13.
  • Heard that Scott Logan was hired as a full-time deputy sheriff recruit. Logan began attending the Law Enforcement Academy at the University of Missouri Nov. 4.
  • Signed an order increasing fees and mileage for jurors effective January 2025.
  • Visited with In-House Tech concerning updates with IT support.
  • Reviewed correspondence from Mike Elliott concerning county liability insurance.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • David Scantlin concerning Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and recent flood damage.
  • Rocky Dailing on flooding in Upton Township.
  • Heather Deckard, Cass Township, on flood damage on Camp Road Bridge.
  • Brandi Smith concerning Shafer Road issues in Licking.
  • Todd Sowerby who volunteered his services to assist with FEMA issues.
  • Ivan Schraeder, county attorney, on area issues.
