Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Nov. 13 and 14.

Members:

  • Met with members of the Texas County Library board to discuss additional American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to complete the library project in Houston.
  • Reviewed the yearly proposal from MAC Trust for the county’s workers compensation insurance renewal.
  • Visited with Paul Foeller concerning Senate Bills 756 and 190, and the implementation process for a senior tax credit.
  • The county clerk presented the commission with a bid from Adkins Election Services for new election equipment.
  • The maintenance department updated the commissioners on water pressure improvements, fuel tanks for the justice center and the impact of minimum wage increases.
  • Reviewed correspondence from Jenni Reigel, U.S. Congressman Jason Smith’s office, and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) on a tax discrepancy from 2021. All documentation shows that the problem has been corrected, said the commissioners.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Jeff Malam on road conditions in Pierce Township.
  • Terra Culley, Texas County Emergency Services, requesting road closures in the county.
  • Jim Hagler concerning road conditions on Shafer Road in Licking.
  • Mary Ellen Higashi, Lynch Township, on road conditions.
  • Robert Gifford with concerns on Mason Bridge and ambulance services.
  • Rocky Dailing concerning invoices for repairs in Upton Township.
  • David Scantlin on flooding updates.
  • Residents with questions on Senate Bill 756.
