The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • At about 7 p.m. Nov. 11, a deputy was dispatched to a 5th Street residence in Summersville regarding a physical domestic incident in progress.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a 34-year-old man who was outside the house who said he and his 36-year-old wife had caught his 16-year-old stepson stealing cigarettes from his grandmother. The pair told the deputy they had attempted to discipline the boy by taking away his television, and he had attacked the man, punching him in the head more than 50 times.

The officer observed lacerations on the back of the man’s head and swelling on his left eye. The man also said the boy had threatened to kill him while he slept that night.

The officer made contact with the boy in his room and observed that his right hand had multiple cuts and was covered in dried blood. A broken TV was also observed.

The boy reportedly told the deputy he did assault the man and wanted to kill him. An EMS crew arrived and rendered aid to the boys’ hand. Due to his homicidal remarks, he was then taken to OMC-West Plains for evaluation.

A report was sent to the county juvenile office.

  • On Nov. 3, a deputy was dispatched to a Slaughter Road residence near Licking regarding a report of a runway juvenile.

The officer made contact with a man and woman there who said the man’s 16-year-old daughter had run off.

During investigation, a cellphone ping showed the girl’s phone about 11 miles from Mean, Arkansas. Officers from the Polk County Sheriff’s Department went to the girl’s grandmother’s house where they made contact with the girl at about 12:15 a.m.

The girl’s father was advised of her location and said he would be on his way to pick her up.

A report was sent to the county juvenile office.

  • On Oct. 29, a deputy was dispatched to the Dollar General store in Summerville regarding a report of an employee finding a plastic bag containing pink and black pills.

The officer made contact with the employee, who said security cameras in the store didn’t face the spot where the bag was found. The pills were seized as evidence.
