Fall firearms deer season ends Tuesday in Missouri.

Deer hunters are pouring into Texas County in advance of the opening of the fall firearms deer season on Saturday. (Nov. 16)

Deer season will bring thousands of hunters Saturday into Texas County, one of the top producing counties in the state.  During last year’s hunt, the county finished second in the state. The count was 4,208, just 81 behind the leading county in the state, Franklin.

The season, which runs from Nov. 16-26, creates a big economic boost for the county. The arrival of hunter orange to the county can be seen as hunters fill up their gasoline tanks, stay at motels and land at grocery stores. For many, the season marks an annual tradition with family and friends.

Hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.
