Heavy rainfall overnight swelled streams and closed roads in Texas County. Some water rescues have occurred, authorities said.

The flooding comes as it is election day. Polls are set to open at 6 a.m.

Numerous highways are closed in the county, according to the Missouri Department of Transportation. (See up-to-date map at https://traveler.modot.org/map/index.html)

Due to impassable roads, Cabool, Houston, Licking, Raymondville, Plato and Success will not hold classes Tuesday. Missouri State University-West Plains and Texas County Techical Collages classes are also canceled. Head Start at Houston, Licking and Cabool will not be in session.

At 4:15 a.m., the Houston Rural Fire Department was called to Ingram Drive and U.S. 63 as a vehicle was surrounded by water. The rescue was successful.

Texas County is under a flash flood warning.

Just before 6 a.m., Troop G was staging resources for potential flooding rescues. It reported numerous incidents overnight in Texas and Wright counties. Rain was continuing to fall in the Houston area.

There are some power outages in the county. Intercounty Electric Cooperative Association reported at 6 a.m. there are 1,137 without power — about 10 percent of its customers. (https://ebill.ieca.coop/maps/Outage_Web_Map/)
