The Texas County Food Pantry will begin raising funds for its annual “Ringing of the Bells” Salvation Army event Saturday, Nov. 16. 

The Food Pantry is the Salvation Army headquarters for Texas County. The money raised during the Salvation Army “Ringing of the Bells” in Houston, Cabool, Summersville and Licking is a large supporter for providing care for residents and stability for the pantry. Of all the money they receive, 85% stays in Texas County. Bell ringing ends on Tuesday, Dec. 24.

The Pantry has been in Houston for 34 years. The Pantry has assisted 6,312 people between January and September 2024. 

Volunteers are needed from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. each Sunday at Houston’s Walmart. Sign up to volunteer for bell ringing in Houston by calling 417-967-4484. Volunteers are also needed in Licking, Linda Roberts, (573-578-4802) and Cabool, Russ Olewinski, (417-204-8287).
