Members of the Texas County Commission handled several matters during meetings Dec. 11 and 12.

Members:

  • Signed a contract with BPJ Insurance for the county’s 2025 health care insurance.
  • Completed a survey from Liberty Mutual for the work West Plains Bridge & Grading completed on Camp Road bridge.
  • Reviewed and acknowledged the “at will status” of Hannah Robinson as a full-time jailer as “no longer needed” effective Dec. 9.
  • Reviewed and acknowledged that Tyler Sheppard gave verbal notice of resignation for his position of full-time jailer effective Nov. 26.
  • Discussed the availability of Title III money and how it can be spent.
  • Discussed disposing mineral rights to current property owners with the collector/treasurer.
  • Discussed and revised the employee health care deductible benefits with the clerk.

In other business, commissioners heard from:

  • Marty Merckling, Piney Township, on Douglas Road bridge, damage to roads by logging companies and private road signs on public roads.
  • A concerned Clinton Township citizen on King Road.
  • Jeff Malam, Pierce Township, on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) paperwork.
  • Kevin Crider, University of Missouri Extension, who updated the commission on the feral hog situation.
  • Mary Ellen Higashi on township information.
  • Trent Courtney and Brent Lidgard, South Central Ozark Council of Governments (SCOCOG), on updates to the abandoned tire program as well as other issues.
