The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • Nathaniel M. Ingram, 47, listed as homeless in TCSD records, was arrested Nov. 21 for having an active warrant for a 96-hour mental evaluation.

A deputy made the arrest after observing Ingram walking along northbound Highway 137 in Raymondville. He was taken to jail.

  • On Dec. 5, a deputy investigated a report of a 42-year-old man missing.

Another man told the officer he picked up the missing man every morning for work, but this time he had sent a text at about 7:44 a.m. indicating he had another ride and would see the other man at 8:30.

The other man said the missing man never made it to work. He said that when he went to the missing man’s camper at about 4:30 p.m. to check on him, the door was unlocked but he wasn’t home. The other man also said the missing man’s backpack and phone were inside, and that he never left without his backpack.

The other man reportedly called at about 5:50 p.m. and said the missing man had been located.

  • On Dec. 6, a deputy was dispatched regarding a report of a domestic incident at a King Road residence at Mountain Grove. Dispatch advised the officer that a 45-year-old woman had reported that she had attempted to grab her purse and her 46-year-old husband had grabbed her face.

Dispatch indicated that more information was sought, but the woman had stated she wanted to go to bed and disconnected the line.

Upon arrival, the officer made contact with the man, who said he and his wife had just been yelling.

The deputy contacted the woman, but she said she didn’t want to speak with law enforcement. The officer advised her that when she calls 911, a response results to ensure things are OK.

The woman then stated they had been arguing about dog food and about the man wanting to play pool at a bar. She said the man hadn’t grabbed her face, but that she had grabbed his face when she was walking away from him, and he followed and yelled.

The man told the officer she hadn’t touched his face.

The two were advised of the 12-hour rule.

  • Renee L. Herrin, 46, of 7585 Chestnut Ridge Road in Houston, was issued citations for driving while intoxicated and speeding after a traffic stop on Highway B near Houston at about 11 p.m. Dec. 1.

A deputy made the stop after observing a gray 2008 Cadillac CTS traveling at 56 miles per hour in a 45 zone. After making contact with the driver, Herrin, the officer observed signs of impairment and smelled alcohol coming from her.

Field sobriety testing was conducted, and she was taken to jail for a 12-hour hold period.

  • On Nov. 1, a deputy investigated a report of animal trespassing.

A 64-year-old woman indicated that since 2022, a 78-year-old woman’s horses have for weeks at a time been on her Crewse Drive property at Huggins. She said the horses’ owner had promised several times to fix a fence and maintain their confinement but will not follow through.

Investigation is ongoing.
