The following are excerpts from just some of the reports recently generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

  • On Jan. 8, a deputy responded to a Pritchard Lane residence at Licking to execute a writ of attachment by seizing a 2014 Coleman trailer.

The officers made contact with a 41-year-old man there who is the registered owner of the trailer and advised him of the order of repossession and provided him with his service copy. The man was then given the chance to remove his property from the trailer.

During the process, the officer observed in plain sight a New England Firearms 20-gauge shotgun. The man was then asked if he was eligible to own a firearm, and he said he hadn’t been convicted of a felony but was out of custody on bond pending a felony case.

The deputy advised the man he wasn’t allowed to possess a gun due to his bond conditions. A report was sent to the county prosecutor.

  • At about 8:15 p.m. Dec. 28, deputies were dispatched regarding a report of shots fired at a Mount Olive Road property near Mountain View.

Officers made contact with a man and woman there who had been on Stillhouse Road near the river looking for their dogs that were missing. The woman stated one of the dogs had a GPS collar on and its last location was on Stillhouse Road. She said they had passed a residence and parked on the side of the road near a wooded area where a GPS ping had been received.

The woman said they shut their truck off and began yelling for the dogs, and then heard four or five gunshots coming from the residence by the river. She said whoever was firing the shots was shooting at she and her husband, and that they left the area and don’t feel comfortable returning for fear of being shot. She also stated that they have had issues with the residents at the location, and that their 5-year-old daughter was in the truck at the time of the incident.

On Dec. 29, deputies went back to the location and spoke with the residents, who advised they hadn’t heard any gunshots or fired any guns the day before.

  • A deputy was dispatched Jan. 2 regarding a report of a domestic incident at a Brushy Creek Road residence in Houston.

A 34-year-old woman there told the officer a 28-year-old man had threatened to shoot her during an argument.

The officer asked the man about making the threat and he said the claim was false.

The two were advised of the 12-hour rule. The woman left the residence with family members.

The officer reported that no signs of a physical altercation were observed and there wasn’t probable cause for an arrest.
