A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued from the Public Water Supply District No. 1 of Texas County and water supplies will arrive Wednesday afternoon to aid the large region.

The announcement comes as the district said it was temporarily enabling a well at Success because of problems with a Roby well. It is one in a series of issues that have bedeviled the district. School was canceled Monday at Success.

The boil advisory affects all customers living on Highway 17 from Thomas Drive in Plato to Highway AA junction in Bucyrus. This also includes Highway AW in Plato, Highway 32 from Roby to Plato, Highway 32 from the Success junction to Mason Bridge, Highway AP in Success and Plato, Highway M in Success and Highway AN in Success. This will also include any side roads that are connected to these roadways.

The area is still under a boil advisory due to the loss of pressure from a water leak and will remain under a boil advisory until this problem is fixed.

Public Water Supply District #1 of Texas County is going to be turning the old Success well back on for temporary use. This is because the Roby well is having trouble and was disconnected from the Success area. The area is still under a boil advisory due to the loss of pressure from a water leak and will remain under a boil advisory until this problem is fixed.

“This well (Success) has been known to produce discolored water, so it is not to be used for drinking. The water district is working on getting bottled water for drinking,” according to a statement from the district.

Convoy of Hope, a Springfield-based relief organization, will deliver bottled water Wednesday afternoon. “We will notify the public when it is ready to be distributed. We are also working with the Roby/Success Fire Department to help with distribution. We are once again very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused. The technicians are working very hard to resolve the issues,” the district said in the statement.

TIPS GIVEN BY DISTRICT

These customers should observe the following directions:

1. Boil water vigorously for three minutes prior to use. Use only boiled water for drinking, diluting fruit juices and all other food preparations.

2. Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic icemaker. Remake ice cubes with water that has been boiled.

3. Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains a teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.

4. Water used for bathing does not need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing, so that the water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes may want to consult their physician before bathing.
